Our summer concert this year will be Billingshurst Choral Society’s celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. All the music is British and some of the pieces were sung at the coronation ceremony on 2nd June 1953.
The programme will include:
Chilcott - Gloria
Elgar - Great is the Lord
Handel - Zadok the Priest
Howells - Behold, O God our Defender
Parry - Songs of Farewell 1 and 2
Parry - I was Glad
Rutter - Te Deum
Handel - Hallelujah Chorus
Holst - I vow to thee my country
Jerusalem
Land of Hope and Glory
National Anthem (Elgar)
Organ solo
The concert will begin at 2.30pm and last for approximately 1 hour 15 mins, and will be followed by a reception with refreshments - come and join our jubilee celebrations!
